Ealing's Living Wage incentive

To encourage more Ealing employers to pay the Real Living Wage, the council offers a business rate discount of up to £2,000 to those that become a living wage accredited. This business rates discount is equivalent to two years of Living Wage accreditation fees. For more information and to obtain your accreditation, click here.

Free and discounted pest control!

Your Acton BID, in partnership with Vergo, will provide free and discounted pest control against mice & rats for BID members.

Details of the service:

  • Food businesses receive 12 routine visits per annum
  • Non–food businesses receive 6 routine visits per annum
  • 20% discount on industrial businesses located in Acton Park & South Acton Estate
  • Emergency call outs (within 2 working days)

The basic cost of this service is £206.80 per business per year – which is offered FREE through your Acton BID levy. Due to the different requirements needed for Acton Park and South Acton Industrial Estate, any pest control procured through the Vergo/Acton BID Partnership will include a 20% discount.

Save money and book your appointment with Place Support Partnership!

Attention, Acton businesses! Since July 2021, Place Support Partnership (PSP) programme has identified over £180,000 in savings for Your Acton BID members, with an average saving of £1,761 per business! PSP helps reduce business costs by reviewing your bills and identifying where savings can be made. It is a free service to all Your Acton BID members.

Update on the pavement license

Good news for the hospitality businesses, where the £100 Pavement License may become permanent! The Levelling Up Bill is at the report stage in the House of Lords and requests the provision under sections 1 to 9 of the Business and Planning Act 2020 to be made permanent. If successful, this will be fantastic news for the hospitality sector.

Update on the South Acton industrial masterplan

Ealing Council, in collaboration with landowners and stakeholders, has commissioned a master planning team led by Haworth Thompkins to deliver the masterplan to provide more certainty for the future of the South Acton industrial estate for businesses and residents. The flower baskets are finally up!

Have you seen our beautiful flower baskets along The Vale, High Street, Churchfield Road and Market Place? They are now officially up, and Acton is just about to bloom with beautiful flowers which will beautify and bring colour into our area. The summer flowers were also added to the wooden planters along the High Street and we have added flowers in the parklet on the High St and planter on the Vale.

Your Acton BID monthly achievements: June

For the months of June, the Acton BID reported various issues such as:

  • Over 37 issues of fly tipping incidents.
  • 12 counts of graffiti on business shop fronts and street furniture.
  • 5 other types of incidents, including streets not clean, pavement issues and abandoned bicycles.

During the month of June, The Acton BID participated in the South Acton Industrial master plan workshop provided by the council to make sure the feedback and concerns were raised by the businesses and property owners. We have added additional flowers to beautify Acton. The parklet and the old cow trough on The Vale was beautified with lavender, thyme and perennials. We also continued to have our Business breakfast networking events in which the last two occurred at the George and Dragon Pub.

Job opportunity: Business Support Officer

We are looking for a Business Support Officer with the role to liaise and build relationships with businesses in the BID area. They will be working alongside the BID manager and My Local Bobby team to support BID businesses, engage the consumer, increase footfall, and initiate fun and digital chatter to encourage loyalty for our diverse and ever-changing High Street and Industrial Estate. 

Summary of Terms & Conditions

  • Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 Dependent on experience.
  • Hours of Work: 35 hours per week excluding lunch.
  • Annual Leave: There is an entitlement of 24 days annual holiday plus all public holidays.

Coffee with a copper

Officers will be holding two Coffee with a Copper sessions in Costa Coffee in Acton High Street. The first will be on Thursday 13th July between 11:00-12:00. The second session with be Wednesday 19th July between 12:00-14:00. Join them and raise any issues or concerns you have. They will also be offering crime prevention advice.

Upcoming South Acton Ward Surgeries

South Acton councillor, Callum Anderson, will be holding ward surgeries for residents and businesses to share their concerns. All surgeries will take place at Acton Gardens Community Centre, Unit A Munster Court, Bollo Bridge Road, W3 8UU

The surgeries will take place on these following dates between 6.30pm-7.30pm:

  • Tuesday 18th July
  • Wednesday 6th September
  • Wednesday 4th October
